She also enjoys watching Columbo and reading murder mysteries....

Sister Joan Mary Schaefer was born in Cicero, Illinois. Her final ministry was in residential services at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Sister Joan Mary entered the Congregation on July 22, 1948. She professed first and final vows on January 23, 1951 and 1956, respectively. Of her ministries, Sister Joan Mary served as a teacher, principal, substitute teacher and ministered in home schooling. Sister Joan Mary enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and loves Notre Dame football. Her favorite music is classical....

For approximately two decades, she ministered as a teacher at schools in Illinois, Maryland, Indiana and California. In 1971, she began a ministry at Lourdes Infirmary and then obtained her LPN degree. For the next 20 years, she ministered in various capacities at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and the motherhouse. Sister Mary Stella was known to be an extreme sports fan, especially basketball and football....

Sister Catherine, better known as Sister Cathy, was a native of Chicago. Her final ministry was in residential services at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She had recently ministered as a volunteer for Catholic Charities Housing in the Diocese of Venice, located in Venice, Florida. Sister Cathy, formerly Sister Joseph Norine, entered the Congregation on February 2, 1956. She professed final vows on August 15, 1963. Sister Cathy said she enjoyed football, swimming and cooking. She ministered for many years as a cook...

...Maryland. In Indiana, she taught at St. Susanna in Plainfield from 1969-81, in addition to St. Simon in Indianapolis from 1981-85. She also taught at St. Athanasius in Evanston, Illinois, from 1956-59, and at Maternity BVM in Chicago from 1959-62. During her time ministering at St. Athanasius in Evanston, the convent she stayed in was less than one block away from Northwestern University’s football stadium. She and other sisters would walk over to the stadium to watch the team practice....

...a master’s degree from Indiana State University. She ministered as a teacher for 39 years in schools in Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma and North Carolina. Her first teaching ministry took place at St. Agnes, Chicago, in 1947. She also ministered as a teacher at Annunciation School in Brazil from 1976 to 1986.She began a ministry at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany in 1987 and in 2007, she returned to the Motherhouse. Sister Maureen Ann also taught at schools in Indiana, North Carolina, Illinois and Texas, for a total of 47 years. She returned to the Woods in 1997, but spent the next 21 years with a ministry of driving. Sister Maureen Ann was a big fan of sports, especially Notre Dame football and her beloved Chicago Cubs....
